The year on a lawn

What a Cache Valley year does to a lawn.

A lawn does not want the same thing in April that it wants in October. This is the shape of the year, not a schedule.

  • Spring

The ground opens up. Top dressing is the one most people ask for in spring; aeration breaks up what the winter packed down; fertilization starts.

  • Summer

Long heat, and everything that eats grass. Fertilization through the warm months, weed control, and grubs and sod webworms working below the surface where you can't see them.

  • Fall

Nights turn and the weeds make a last push. Fall fertilization, weed control, and the sprinkler winterization blow-outs that empty the lines.

  • Winter

The lawn stops and the driveway starts. Snow removal, residential and commercial, across Cache Valley.

Yard Master has been an excellent choice for our sprinkler system service and all repairs. Their technicians were always very responsive, professional and skilled, and services were conducted at a very reasonable price. The office staff was likewise very helpful, as well. I would highly recommend Yard Master to family and friends for any yard services needed.

    Everyone is personable and helpful.
However, my front lawn seems to have a problem. I know if call, they will get back with me. They always call to make sure it's okay to come. I appreciate that.

I have been with Yard Master for 10 years and they do a great job keeping my grass beautiful. The technician will text to be sure we are home so that we can water after the treatments. The owner, Trish, is wonderful to work with. They also educate you on how to be water wise with great information on their door hangers. We have referred many neighbors. They also work with other companies and can provide you a referral. I highly recommended Yard Master!

What we leave behind

What happens, and what gets written down.

Most of this happens while you are at work. The part you see is a door hanger — here is the rest of it.

  1. We tell you we're coming.

A call or a text before the visit, so nothing about it is a surprise.

  2. We treat the lawn.

Whichever of the nine the visit is for — fertilization, weed control, grubs and webworms, aeration, top dressing.

  3. We leave it in writing.

When to water next, and lawn care tips, left on the door.

  4. We pick it back up if something is off.

If a patch is not coming back, you say so and we go from there.

Before you write in

Asked and answered, before you write in.

Do you come to my town?

Thirty-eight of them are listed above — Logan, Hyrum, Smithfield, Providence, Nibley, North Logan and Wellsville among them, and Preston, Malad, Dayton and Cub River among the Idaho names. If yours is not on the list, call and ask.

Do you do sprinkler blowouts?

Yes. Sprinkler Services covers comprehensive sprinkler system maintenance, including repairs and winterization blow-outs.

Do you clear snow?

Yes. Residential and commercial properties, across Cache Valley.

Do you work on business properties as well as houses?

Yes. We service both home properties and business properties.

It breaks up soil compaction, reduces thatch and helps water absorption. If water is sitting on the surface instead of going into it, that is the thing aeration is for.

What is top dressing?

An organic slow release fertilizer with humates. It is the one most people ask for in spring.

Do you treat for bugs around the house, not just the lawn?

Yes. A protective barrier sprayed around the home kills ants, spiders, wasps, and more.

How long have you been at this?

Since 2004.
